We are excited to share a remarkable and inspiring story that has deeply touched us at Fresenius Medical Care UK & Ireland. Recently, we had the honour of meeting Andrea Draper, a truly exceptional individual who has shared her heartfelt memoir, “To Have and To Hold.” Andrea's memoir is a poignant journey through the world of chronic kidney disease (CKD), reflecting over 40 years of resilience, love, and remarkable strength. Through her story, Andrea invites readers to experience the highs and lows of life alongside her beloved husband, who lived with CKD, while navigating life with the support of dedicated healthcare professionals. In her memoir, Andrea recounts their nomadic life, following her husband’s engineering career, painting vivid pictures of their adventures and challenges, especially upon his diagnosis during an era of new and emerging dialysis technology.
