Actress Nina Wadia visited kidney patients at the Fresenius West Byfleet Renal Unit to support World Kidney Day helping them to raise over £1,000 for charity.
Nina is Patron of the NKF (National Kidney Federation). She said, “I am in the middle of a very busy time filming Holby and Goodness Gracious me but I have always got time to support the NKF”.
Nina knows first-hand all about the cause as she lost her Mother to kidney disease, seeing her go through both dialysis and a transplant.
World Kidney Day sees hundreds of kidney patients highlight kidney disease to the general public by opening their renal units or having awareness stands in their hospital entrances.
Pete Revell Head of Fundraising for the NKF said “World Kidney Day is an opportunity to make people aware that two million people have kidney problems in the UK with 27,348 people needing dialysis treatment; it is fantastic that Nina was able to spare some time to visit the Fresenius renal unit at Byfleet and meet some of the patients and staff.”
